TrimLock Ltd. is a family-owned manufacturing facility specializing in innovative product designs for architectural and functional purposes on the exterior of buildings. 

In the summer of 2021, TrimLock reached out as they were struggling with their old website builder, facing delays and inefficiencies. They felt like they weren’t getting their money’s worth. I stepped in to make the necessary changes. Once I got access to their WordPress backend and had more discussions with Keith and his team, it became clear they needed more than just updates. They wanted a brand-new website that better represented their products and company.

Conceptualize

Once TrimLock decided to build a new website, we scheduled a consultation meeting to discuss their vision and how I could enhance the redesign. From my experience updating their old website, I identified several key areas for improvement: an inconsistent flow of information, minimal call-to-action elements and SEO best practices were largely ignored.

I was excited to give the website a more dynamic and engaging design. The old site featured outdated, low-resolution photos and lacked vibrant colour schemes or effective formatting to highlight crucial information. Given that their logo boasted great contrasting and unique colours, this web redesign was a prime opportunity to create a visually appealing site that also improved traffic.

Create

As with all my design projects, I began by extracting key branding elements from available resources, focusing on colours, font choices, and the overall look and feel.

My goals for the new design included:

  1. Enhanced User Flow: Restructuring the information layout to ensure a seamless user experience, making it easy for visitors to find what they need.
  2. Increased Call-to-Actions: Incorporating clear and compelling call-to-action buttons to guide users toward desired actions, such as contacting TrimLock or exploring product details.
  3. SEO Optimization: Implementing best practices for SEO to boost organic search rankings and drive more traffic to the site.
  4. Dynamic Design Elements: Utilizing high-resolution images, vibrant colours, and modern formatting to make the website visually appealing and reflective of TrimLock’s innovative spirit.
  5. Brand Consistency: Leveraging the unique colours and contrasts in TrimLock’s logo to create a cohesive and attractive design that stands out.

For each page, I implemented a striking hero section featuring TrimLock’s logo, bold headings, and a clear CTA button directing visitors to the quote section. The layout prioritized information flow, supported by new imagery provided by the client. I used orange buttons, matching their logo, to highlight links to informational PDFs, and blue backgrounds to separate sections. Custom icons were designed to represent each product application.

A key section was dedicated to the features of their products, presented in a bullet-style list against a graphically designed background that echoed the interlocking nature of TrimLock products. A six-picture gallery showcased each product in action.

To streamline the site and keep costs within budget, I opted not to build a separate “Contact Us” page. Instead, I created a custom footer with a contact form and all necessary information. This was complemented by a custom header with quick links to email, phone, address and social channels.

Communicate

The final design for TrimLock Ltd. is one of my proudest projects. The site’s modern, mobile-friendly look features clear, concise information presented with SEO-friendly text hierarchy and vibrant colours. The new imagery and custom graphics enhance the overall design perfectly.

This sleek, contemporary design is optimized for search engine ranking. Additionally, we integrated Google Analytics and Search Console into a new TrimLock-owned Google account, giving Keith and his team direct access to visitor data. This access empowers them to make informed decisions and grow their business.
