The logo concept for Social Links Golf was built around creating a clear representation of what Jenn wanted the league to stand for: inclusivity, connection, and a relaxed approach to the game. The goal was not to move away from traditional golf branding entirely, but to create something that feels approachable for women of all ages and skill levels.

Design.

The design process focused on creating a logo that is simple to recognize, easy to apply, and consistent across all uses.

Female Golfer Silhouette: I started by refining the silhouette of the golfer to strike the right balance between confidence and approachability. The pose needed to feel natural and relatable while still holding a strong visual presence. This choice reinforces the idea that the league is about participation and enjoyment, not competition.

Circular Frame: This was designed to anchor the composition and create a contained, balanced mark. From there, the floral elements were introduced to soften the structure and reinforce the message of growth, improvement, and progression, aligning with the league’s purpose of helping members build confidence and develop their game in a supportive environment.

The concept was designed as a full system, not just a single logo. Multiple layouts, including stacked, horizontal, and icon-only versions, ensure the identity works across digital platforms, apparel, and print without losing clarity or recognition.

Typography plays a key role in how the brand is perceived. The script-style wordmark used for “Social Links” introduces movement, femininity and personality. It communicates a social, relaxed tone that matches the league’s purpose. Supporting this is a clean sans-serif typeface used for “Ladies Golf League,” which keeps the overall identity grounded and readable across all applications.

The colour palette was selected to support both function and message. Cerulean blue represents trust and professionalism, while turquoise introduces energy and inclusivity. These colours work together to create a brand that feels welcoming without losing structure. Black and white are used for contrast and flexibility across different backgrounds and media.

The final logo communicates exactly what Social Links Golf is built on. It shows that the league is structured, welcoming, and designed for participation over competition. The female golfer, circular form, and supporting elements work together to create a clear and immediate understanding of the brand.

This aligns directly with Jenn’s vision. She wanted a league that removes barriers and makes golf more accessible. The logo reflects that by avoiding traditional, rigid golf visuals and replacing them with something that feels open and easy to engage with.

The logo concept was built around themes of tradition, warmth, and a strong sense of place. Josh and Andrew wanted the design to capture the inn’s rich history while feeling timeless and inviting. The primary imagery for the logo would combine something that represented the state of Vermont. After much discussion, we decided the state bird, the hermit thrush, would be a perfect logo. The hermit thrush symbolizes nature and community, tying the inn’s identity to Vermont’s landscape and heritage. The key represents history, access, and the warmth of an open-door welcome. Together, these elements create a visual story that reflects the charm and hospitality of Green Trails Inn.

The secondary logo continues this theme with crossed keys, reinforcing the idea of tradition, history, and hospitality. The logo system was designed for versatility, ensuring it could be used across digital platforms, signage, and printed materials without losing impact. Every detail was carefully considered to create a brand identity that aligns with the inn’s purpose and values.

Design.

The design process focused on crafting a clean, recognizable logo that balances history with modern appeal. The two key visual elements—the antique key and the hermit thrush—were chosen for their deep symbolism and connection to the inn’s identity. I started with different photos of the hermit thrush bird, in different positions (in flight, sitting, singing) to find the right feel for the logo.

The initial drawings had a “chubbier” hermit thrush with his mouth open, singing, and the key was a simple, straightforward design based on one of the room keys the guys sent me a picture of. Over the course of a “few” revisions, we settled on the design you see above. A classic version of the bird and a more intricate antique key for the bird to rest.

The antique key represents hospitality, heritage, and a sense of welcome. It visually connects to the inn’s history and the tradition of opening doors for travelers. The intricate details of the key reflect the timeless charm and character of Green Trails Inn.

The hermit thrush, Vermont’s state bird, reinforces the inn’s connection to nature and community. Known for its melodic song and presence in quiet, wooded areas, the hermit thrush symbolizes peace, comfort, and the natural beauty that surrounds the inn. Its inclusion in the logo emphasizes the tranquil retreat that Josh and Andrew have worked to create.

Typography plays a critical role in strengthening the brand’s identity. The serif typeface, IM Fell English SC, was chosen for its historical connection and old-world charm. Originally designed in the 17th century, this typeface adds a sense of tradition and authenticity. It ensures the brand maintains a classic, refined appearance. The secondary font, PT Serif, provides excellent readability while complementing the elegance of the wordmark.

The colour palette enhances the logo’s message. Brunswick Green reflects nature, balance, and a sense of renewal, making it an ideal choice for a hospitality brand set in Vermont. Chamoisee, a warm, earthy brown, represents tradition, comfort, and rustic charm. Jet Black adds contrast and a timeless quality, while Pure White keeps the overall look clean and refined. These colors work together to reinforce the brand’s message of hospitality and history.

The Green Trails Inn logo communicates more than just a name. It conveys a sense of place, history, and warmth. This design aligns perfectly with Josh and Andrew’s vision for the inn. The new logo for the Innisfail Golf Club (IGC) was built on a foundation of history, community, and purpose. The old logo, while significant in its time, no longer represented the essence of the club or its offerings. It featured a tree not native to Alberta, disconnecting it from the local environment. By embracing the rich heritage of IGC, the rebranding process sought to honour tradition while presenting a fresh, modern image. The design captures the story of the club, reflecting its evolution from a small-town golf course to a 27-hole facility with a vibrant community focus.

Design.

The new IGC logo is a modern yet timeless emblem that represents growth, unity, and connection. The design incorporates three distinct leaves, a nod to the club’s three nine-hole courses and the synergy between its old 18 holes and the newer nine. These leaves are intertwined, symbolizing unity and the interconnected nature of the club’s operations and history. The overlapping shapes reference the Irish concept of “destiny,” tying back to the town’s name, Innisfail, which derives from the Irish epithet for Ireland, “Isle of Destiny.”

The chosen color palette plays a vital role in conveying the club’s identity:

• Green: Representing growth, renewal, and connection to nature, green symbolizes the lush fairways and the vitality of the golf course.
• Dark Gray or Black: This anchors the design with sophistication and professionalism, projecting stability and timelessness.
• Golden Yellow Accents: Reflecting optimism and energy, this color evokes warmth and approachability, inviting both members and guests to engage with the club.

From a psychological standpoint, these colors work together to evoke feelings of trust, excitement, and renewal, while remaining grounded and approachable.

The design also considers functionality and versatility. The logo is adaptable across various mediums, from digital platforms to physical signage, ensuring that the brand remains consistent and impactful no matter where it’s seen.

When Quinton from Funky Monkey Solutions reached out, he had a clear vision: a “Gorillaz”-style monkey head with a hard hat, sunglasses, and oilfield symbols. While I always aim to bring my client’s vision to life, my job also involves digging deeper to explore other possibilities. So, I set out to find the perfect blend of creativity and functionality to craft a logo that truly represents his evolving business.

Design.

I created three versions based on this idea: one inspired by his existing logo, one modelled after the “Gorillaz” image he requested, and a third that was entirely off-script, fitting the look and feel I believed his brand needed.

From there, it was about pairing these designs with elements Quinton requested, like oil derricks, hard hats, and sunglasses. I had some reservations about including all these elements in the design. Logos are meant to be simple and clean, especially if used on decals, vehicles, and other materials. Adding the hard hat and glasses can sometimes alter the look of the monkey to the point where it becomes unrecognizable. My goal was to balance Quinton’s vision with the principles of effective logo design, ensuring we created something that truly represented Funky Monkey Solutions Inc. while remaining practical and impactful.

Quinton liked the off-script gorilla head I came up with. He agreed that all the added elements made it hard to distinguish the gorilla head, so we had to find a middle ground – but he was adamant about including the oilfield symbols and a hard hat. It was up to me to weave all these elements into a cohesive design. I focused on maintaining the bold, dynamic feel of the gorilla head while subtly integrating the oilfield symbols.

When it came to adding colour schemes to the Funky Monkey Solutions logo, I presented four distinct options, each with its vibe and message:

1. Blue/Brown: Blue represents trust, reliability, and professionalism, making it a great choice for a business offering oilfield consulting services. Brown adds a realistic feel to the monkey, which complements the industrial aspect of the rest of the design.
2. Black/Grey: This combination is all about sophistication and modernity. Black conveys power and authority, while grey adds a sleek, understated touch. Together, they create a strong, professional image.
3. Orange/Black: Orange is vibrant and energetic, signalling creativity and enthusiasm. It is also a known colour for safety. Paired with black, which adds a layer of seriousness and sophistication, this scheme strikes a balance between playful and professional – a nod to the ‘funky’ in Funky Monkey Solutions.
4. Dark Red/Black: Dark red symbolizes strength, determination, and passion. When combined with black, it creates a bold, commanding presence. This color scheme is ideal for making a strong impression and conveying a sense of power and reliability.

Each scheme was designed to communicate a different aspect of Funky Monkey Solutions, ensuring that the final choice would align perfectly with Quinton’s vision and the business’s brand identity.

Kam had a cool idea for his logo – he wanted to incorporate a Celtic knot and chain. But when I researched the meaning of a Celtic knot, it didn’t really represent his business. So, I began researching the welding industry and found some unique symbols used in welding schematics. Armed with that fresh inspiration, I got to work designing a logo that truly captures the essence of Integrity Welding Services – preparing Kam’s vision and some of my own designs with industry-specific elements. My goal was to create a logo that’s unique, professional, and stands out in the welding world.

Design.

When it came to designing the logo for Integrity Welding Services, I wanted to create three solid concepts that would give Kam a range of options.

1. Celtic Knot – I ran with Kam’s original idea of incorporating a Celtic knot and a chain. I crafted three versions of this concept: a classic Celtic knot within a circle, a Celtic knot and circle made of chains, and one that pushed the envelope by forming the Celtic knot out of a welding torch cord. Each version kept the essence of Kam’s vision while adding a unique twist.
2. Welding Symbols – Next, I explored the welding industry’s symbols. I utilized welding schematic symbols, focusing on “Edge Flanged,” “Concave,” and “Arc Spot” to create some abstract designs. These designs brought a modern, technical edge to the logo, representing the precision and expertise integral to welding.
3. Welding Torch – I developed a more direct concept using the welding torch and cord again, I created a design where the cord formed a circle, enclosing the company name. This approach was straightforward but still professional and visually appealing.

These three distinct concepts gave Kam a variety of styles to choose from, ensuring that his final logo would perfectly reflect the spirit and professionalism of Integrity Welding Services.

Once Kam had some time to review the designs, I got the following response back

“The designs look cool, I like the edged flange in the triangle concept. It has a unique kinda look to it I would have never thought of, nice work!”

So, another logo decision had been made. It was time to add a splash of colour to the chosen design. I presented four different colour schemes, each chosen to evoke specific emotions and convey distinct messages.

1. Red/Grey/Black: This scheme combines the intensity of red, the neutrality of grey, and the strength of black. Red symbolizes energy, passion, and action, perfect for a dynamic and hands-on industry like welding. Grey adds balance and sophistication, while black emphasizes power and professionalism. Together, these colours create a bold and authoritative presence.
2. Reds/Blue/Black: Adding blue to the mix introduces a sense of trust and reliability. Blue is often associated with dependability and stability, essential qualities for a welding business. The red adds energy, the black adds strength, and together, they form a colour palette that communicates both action and trust.
3. Navy/Orange/Grey: Navy blue exudes professionalism and trust, while orange adds a touch of creativity and enthusiasm. This combination is both professional and approachable, with grey providing a neutral balance.
4. Black/Grey/Lime Green: This modern and edgy scheme uses the starkness of black and grey with the fresh, vibrant touch of lime green. Lime green is often associated with innovation, growth, and freshness, giving the logo a contemporary and forward-thinking vibe.

Each color scheme was carefully considered to ensure it aligned with Integrity Welding Services’ brand message, providing Kam with options that would resonate with his clients and stand out in the industry.

The chosen Edge Flange/Arc Spot design for Integrity Welding Services sends a clear and powerful message to its audience. By integrating welding schematic symbols into the logo, we created a design that looks visually appealing and speaks directly to the heart of the welding industry. The Edge Flange and Arc Spot symbols are universally recognized within the field, and their incorporation into the logo showcases Integrity Welding Services’ deep understanding and expertise in the craft.

Researching the welding industry allowed me to take the project in a different direction than Kam initially envisioned. Instead of the traditional Celtic knot and chain concept, which didn’t fully capture the essence of his business, I created something more innovative and industry-specific. This research-driven approach led to a design that is both creative and relevant, highlighting the technical proficiency and modernity of Integrity Welding Services.

Kam appreciated the fresh perspective and loved the creativity infused into the logo and couldn’t wait to showcase the new logo on his truck, clothing, and stickers, knowing it would resonate with his clients and set his business apart from the competition.

When Darcy with the Red Deer Roller Hockey Association reached out for a new logo design, I knew it had to be something special. The goal was to create a logo that would shine across various mediums—jerseys, hoodies, hats—you name it. The logo needed to exude the pride of the city of Red Deer while being FUN and APPEALING to a wide age range of kids from 6 to 17.

Design.

To achieve this, I conceptualized three distinct ideas:

1. Deer Representation: The first concept focused on a powerful deer, symbolizing the City of Red Deer. The deer embodies the spirit and pride of the city, making it a perfect centrepiece for the logo.
2. Roller Hockey Player: The second concept was centred around a dynamic roller hockey player. This design captures the action and excitement of the sport, making it instantly recognizable and exciting for young players.
3. Text-Based Logo: The third concept was a bold, text-based logo. This design emphasizes the association’s name with stylish typography, ensuring versatility and easy recognition across all mediums.

These three concepts aim to cover all bases, providing a comprehensive range of options that reflect the identity and energy of the Red Deer Roller Hockey Association.

Once the concepts were ready, I presented them to the board of directors where we hit a good problem – they loved multiple designs! From there, the project pivoted into a full rebrand for the association. We created a primary logo for the jerseys, a secondary logo for shoulder patches, and a third logo for the business side of the association.

Once the logos were finalized, it was time to explore colour schemes. I presented four different colour pairings to the board:

1. Blue and Greys – Blue evokes trust, loyalty, and confidence, perfect for representing a sports team. Paired with greys, it adds a sleek, professional look that’s modern and versatile.
2. Reds and Blacks – Red symbolizes energy, passion, and action, which is great for a high-energy sport like roller hockey. Combined with black, it creates a bold, powerful contrast that’s eye-catching and intense.
3. Greens and Browns – Green represents growth, harmony, and freshness. When paired with earthy browns, it gives a natural, grounded feel, emphasizing teamwork and community.
4. Reds and Blues – Red brings the energy and excitement, while blue adds a layer of trust and dependability. This combination is vibrant and dynamic, appealing to both kids and parents alike.

Each scheme was designed to communicate different aspects of the association’s values and mission, allowing them to choose the one that best represented their brand. In the end, the choice was made to go with the blue and grey and it was applied to the 3 logos.

This logo, featuring a proud and powerful deer, symbolizes the spirit of the city of Red Deer and embodies strength, agility, and community pride. Working on this project was an absolute blast! From brainstorming sessions to seeing the final design come to life, every step was filled with creativity and excitement. The real thrill, though, came from seeing the logo on the vibrant roller hockey jerseys. Watching the kids’ faces light up when they put on their new jerseys was truly rewarding. It’s more than just a logo; it’s a symbol of their passion and dedication to the sport.

This project wasn’t just about creating a logo; it was about crafting an identity that the kids could wear with pride, and the smiles on their faces are the best feedback we could ever ask for.

Juniur reached out to me with a fun and unique idea for his bowling team, the Bearbie Dolls. He envisioned a logo based on a cartoon burlesque lady in a martini glass – but tweaked just a bit to reflect the team name. I knew it needed to be bold, fun, and a bit cheeky to capture the essence of the team.

Design.

Starting with the idea of a burlesque lady in a martini glass and playfully converting it to a cute lil teddy bear – the concept took off from there. I added typefaces similar to the iconic “Barbie” style, along with simple bubbles and stars, and suddenly the idea was popping. Finally, I experimented with various styles and colour schemes to achieve that fun, vibrant vibe. And just like that, the Bearbie Dolls were ready to roll!

This project was a blast to work on, and it’s always rewarding to see a client’s vision come to life and help a friend out. Juniur and his teammates were blown away by the design and said it exceeded their expectations. The Bearbie Dolls had a logo that stood out in the crowd and brought a smile to everyone’s face.

During our consultation, Ruel mentioned that he wanted to base his logo design around the idea of the ‘P’ in the word Prime. However, I wanted to present a few different concepts to see if there was another way to convey the ideas of movement, health and wellness. As a logo designer, I must understand the main brand message and audience and how to convey it. This particular logo had to appeal to a broad audience, from athletes to seniors.

For Toro Skid Steer, I developed four logo concepts and created 11 designs from those concepts.

1. Different concepts based on the client’s request of utilizing the letters of the business. Each design had its layouts and ways to communicate the idea of movement, professionalism and wellness.
2. Concepts that took the idea of movement and integrated different ways to convey that with direct imagery. I was able to incorporate the “P” into a few of the designs as well.
3. I created text-based or wordmark options for Ruel as well. These aren’t usually ideas that get selected unless someone is specifically looking for one – but it’s nice to provide this option as sometimes these concepts can be paired with other design concepts to create the final logo.
4. The final concepts were based on the concepts of movement and strength. Using symbolism such as weights

During the creation process, I always include a variety of typeface samples to complement the concepts I present. Since Ruel wanted a MODERN and BOLD look, I provided several font options that align perfectly.

Sometimes a client likes one of the original concepts so much that no revisions are needed. Ruel immediately fell for the postured bull design. From there, I moved on to adding colour to the chosen design. After thorough research, I presented several variations, carefully aligning the colour choices with our branding discussion and leveraging color psychology effectively.

The final logo design for Prime Physiotherapy captures the essence of movement, health, and wellness that Ruel envisioned for his practice in Red Deer. From athletes to seniors, the design reflects these values, ensuring it resonates with every client who walks through their doors.

Colby had a clear vision: he wanted an oil derrick and a wheat stalk in his logo. While that’s straightforward, I felt it needed a bit more flair to really stand out from the competition. So, I made sure to include his ideas in one of the concepts, but I also got creative with some alternative designs. My goal was to spark Colby’s imagination and show him what his logo could truly be.

Design.

I created seven different designs based on three concepts. The first concept incorporated Colby’s idea of the oil derrick and wheat stalks. I made two variations, each with a modern, simple approach by placing different oil derricks in the center of a circle with wheat stalks. The second concept was a twist on the first, using more contemporary wheat stalk drawings arranged more freely. For the final concept, I replaced the oil derrick with an oil drop, creating three unique designs with the wheat stalks.

After Colby reviewed the concepts, he asked for minor tweaks, like using a different wheat stalk in his favourite design. Next, I added colour to the design. Colby wanted a metal (platinum) texture, which I explained wouldn’t work well for apparel, but he still wanted to see it. The design also allowed for the “oil drop” to be split into two colours if desired. I presented various colour combinations that matched the message Colby aimed to convey to his potential customers.

In the end, Colby chose the metal texture (as seen in the image above). The typefaces used complement the logo’s feel, with a bold serif font for the business name and a simple sans-serif font for the secondary text, ensuring legibility despite the long name.

The final logo nails everything Colby wanted. It’s bold, eye-catching, and modern, perfect for business cards, truck decals, and apparel. The combo of wheat and an oil drop instantly tells you what Colby’s is all about. At the end of the day, customers know what they need; my job is to create something that delivers that message, even if it’s not exactly what they initially had in mind.

Sheldon and Lorena sent me a sample of an idea they found online that they really liked. However, it felt more like a sports logo than a corporate brand. A logo designer must understand the difference and know where each type is appropriate. I assured them I could create something that perfectly captures their business’s essence. For every logo design, I start by researching similar industry logos, related imagery, and any other inspiration to get the creative juices flowing. When a client provides samples of what they envision, I always present my take on that idea as one of the initial concepts.

Design.

For Toro Skid Steer, I crafted four logo concepts.

1. A version of the logo that the client provided
2. Inspiration from the idea of simplifying the bull’s face to form the ‘T’ in Toro. It’s a sleek and modern approach, which would use colour to subtly enhance the brand identity.
3. The two drawings on the left were drawn from incredible bull statues I found during my research. The statues’ powerful stances and dynamic movements inspired strong, impactful logos. By focusing on the body and horns, I created designs that are versatile and easily transferable across various media, meeting Sheldon and Lorena’s needs.

During the creation process, I always include a variety of typeface samples to complement the concepts I present. Since Sheldon and Lorena wanted a BOLD and MODERN look, I provided several font options that align perfectly with each design concept.

It’s rare, but sometimes a client loves an original concept so much that no revisions are needed. That’s exactly what happened with Sheldon and Lorena.
