The Client
Each and every year, my longest-standing client Electrogas Monitors, is in need of custom-designed flyers that reflect a multitude of manufacturers’ promotions but in the Electrogas branding style, we have spent over 10 years developing together. This year’s batch includes promotions for MSA Safety, Blackline Saftey, Honeywell Analytics and Dräger Safety.
Conceptualize
Conceptually, the customs flyers are becoming easier to design than in years previous. Electrogas and I worked hard at establishing a branding guide to help facilitate quicker turnaround for their custom projects, as you can tell from the designs, they are all similar in aestics. The information is provided directly from the manufacturers, so it is mainly about finding the important information and laying it out in a visually interesting way.
Create
As mentioned above, most of the information is provided by the manufacturers. So the creative process is about finding/creating the right supporting images and then inputting that supplied text in the correct hierarchy. The most important things are to show the product, the manufacturer logo and to draw attention to what the actual promotion is. Utilizing the colour schemes for each individual manufacturer allows Electrogas customers to differentiate between the designs and promotions.
Communicate
The major goal of each individual flyer effectively and efficiently communicate the ongoing promotion. These custom flyers are designed using Electrogas’s branding guide so their sales staff isn’t stuck using manufacturer-designed materials. Together, we have developed a strong visual design that can be used in both print and email applications. To drive home the message, we support each of the promotions with social media posts and additions of these designs to their website.
